New Year's Resolutions

New Year’s resolutions get a bad rap, but, if done well, they’re simply an opportunity to plan your goals for the upcoming year. Matt shares his 2024 New Year’s resolutions with you.

New Year’s resolutions can be very useful for planning goals for the coming year. If you are the kind of person who finds value in resolutions, this time of year is a great opportunity to collate those ideas into actionable aims.

It might help you to organize goals into different categories:

Physical

This category contains obvious things like gaining/losing weight, training consistency, or changing dietary habits. It can also include fitting into particular clothes or working toward better blood work results. Don’t forget how important good sleep habits and relaxation can be for your well-being.

Business

Do you want to change jobs this year, or get a promotion? Maybe it’s time to take the next step and expand your business or focus on a specialty you excel at.

Material

You might want to work toward paying off debts or finish home renovations. Is there a place you’ve always wanted to travel to?

Family

Do you want to focus on spending more time with your family? Eating more meals together?

For all of these resolutions, think of what daily habits will allow you to reach your goals. Defining and sticking to daily habits that will deliver results will give you the best chance of achieving those goals. And don’t worry if you don’t quite achieve an entire goal, or all of your resolutions. Enjoy the process of refinement that comes from challenging yourself. Odds are you will have made lots of progress by next year.
