Do the Work
Get down to it! Taking action, even with a less-than-ideal to-do list, beats endlessly perfecting a list you never actually tackle. Embrace that doer mentality!
Lots of people dream of being an entrepreneur. They read all the books, follow all the podcasts, and talk about it to anyone who will listen. But what does it take to actually become a successful business owner? Action.
Consuming all of that content can be valuable, for sure. Many entrepreneurs have learned important lessons the hard way, and considering their mistakes and insights can give you a real advantage. But at the end of the day, all of this planning means nothing if you don’t act on it.
Intelligently planning a venture is critical, but this often turns into procrastination. Would-be entrepreneurs never actually try their best because they are afraid of failure or wait until the timing is “right.” Of course, timing is never perfect. Failures are bound to happen, but those who try anyway will make progress. Commit to something you believe in and swing for the fences.
What do you need to do to make progress toward your goals today? Think about that next step, and do it today. The most important step for you might not even be that expensive. It likely will be uncomfortable, though. Get over your discomfort, anxiety, or fear, and get things done today.
If it feels like you don’t have enough time to work on your goals, take an honest look at your daily routine. Do you watch TV, play video games, scroll through social media, or go out to eat frequently? These are all easy places to find more time in a day. Decide what is actually important to you, and plan time for those activities first. Only the remaining time is available for less important things. This might mean you go without some entertainment for a while, but if your goals are important to you, it is worth it.
